There are many accounts of world champions who, even after their purple-belt days, still hadn't mastered resources such as the armlock from the guard—one of the many basic techniques of jiujitsu which, despite frequent, can indeed require a high degree of motor coordination, perfect position timing and a connection to the opponent. Not to mention the role of the hips, almost invisible when it comes to applying the technique efficaciously.
